So Close

I was at 320 or so when they ran out of stock.

Shit.

Weekend Update

- Rokk dinged 73 yesterday. Thank goodness. It was nice to see some kind of progression, and it was even better to see the better internet connection which let me progress without getting killed in the face repeatedly. I have the option (read: quest) that takes me to Grizzly Hills, but it might be more beneficial to keep working on the Wyrmrest Accord rep. Doesn't really matter either way I suppose, as long as there's XP to be had.

- Took Rukgut for a spin, and to farm some goodies for the AH. You know you have burnout when, despite the fact the character has a green proto-drake, you still can't get yourself to use him.

- Only a few hours before Blizzcon Tickets - Round Two. I'll have my finger hovering over F5, and the other four fingers will be crossed.

Finally, The Rokk Has Come Back...

... to Blizzcon 09?

Color me surprised. I might be going to Blizzcon after all.

The soon-to-be Mrs Rokk, who doesn't play WoW or any MMORPG, told me I should go. Why? Because I said it was something I'd like to do once in my life.

Yep, she's a keeper.

Now there's just the matter of getting a ticket on May 30th.

Dude Where's My Ticket

I was having some problems getting into WoW last night, so I grudgingly popped over to the WoW Forums (or as I like to call it, Shithead Central) to see what the bug is. Turns out the Battle.net authenticator nonsense was keeping people out, or something like that. When you've got a handful of blue posts out of 38 pages of mouth-breathers, bitching and moaning that they can't get online to play their video game on a Friday night, it's not a good sign. A pre-crisis to those lucky SOB's who will be getting their tickets to Blizzcon 09.

Tickets go on sale at Noon CST. I suspect connection issues after that point as F5 buttons tap faster than the fanboy can fap.

The Rokk hit 72 last night. All right. Two more levels until he can get into Dalaran.

The Real Hard Mode

This past week I came to grips with the fact that I had two options:

1) Level on the weekends when I have a better internet connection, and reach 80 sometime around Christmas.

2) Suck it up and do what I can during the week, enduring a horrible internet connection.

Option 2 is the way to go. Option 2 is about as much fun as masturbating with a cheese grater.

Combat is a real treat. I engage, start my rotation, and everything just kinda... sits there. I silently hope that I've killed the mob while I lag out. This happens pretty much on every pull. You also tend to die alot when you can't fight back properly. Rotations go out the window, and instead of "lol /faceroll across the keyboard" it's "WTF /HEADBUTT MONITOR".

Masturbating. Cheese grater.

The upside? The Rokk is almost at 72, and I'm really feeling like I'm earning levels the hard way.

With A Bullet

Since it looks like my weekends are the only decent leveling time The Rokk will have, I had to make the most of it. Sunday evening he started with not a drop of XP into 70. Today, dinged 71.

Borean Tundra has an insane amount of quests.

Only Fifty Clams

They're practically giving blues away.

Winterfin Retreat needed The Rokk's help. If there's one thing I know, it's that you can't discriminate. If they've got an exclamation mark hanging over their head, any quest they have is as good as someone else's, regardless of race, creed, or faction.

Except Alliance. They can go pound salt while pissing up a rope.

Anyway, there's a Clam Vendor at the Winterfin Retreat. While running quests at the opposing Winterfin Murloc camp, you easily scrounge up Winterfin Clams. In fact, in the time it took me to finish up Oh Noes, The Tadpoles! and Them! , I easily rounded up the 50 clams necessary to purchase what was pretty much an upgrade from the axe I was using -

Not only that, but if one wanted to make some easy gold in the AH, you simply have to get 100 clams and hand them in for a Siren's Tear which usually sells well (100g last time I looked).

U Wanna Fite?

Rukgut, who has now more or less become my farming alt, managed to get his Unarmed skill to 400. He earned the achievement "Did Someone Order A Knuckle Sandwich", which was pretty much how he earned it - bare knuckles on eggs.

Fun Tip: Attacking Primordial Drake Eggs in Sholo Basin is a great way to skill up your lower weapon skills. Just be sure to have a better weapon at hand in case one of the mama Drakes decide to come by to check up on her eggs. While you're beating it into an omlette, she'll make you into some cajun-styled bite snacks.

As far as The Rokk goes, I'll be levelling him on the weekends and working on his skills during the week. Given the poor internet connection I have to work with during the week, it's the best way to get closer to 80 sometime this year.
